patch that allows you to upgrade your exisiting WinDVD version to WinDVD

| WinDVD AC3 sound support NEWS
by Renside posted 3/23/99 8:05:54 PM I've been complaining to Intervideo for several weeks now, for selling a product that does not support what they say it will support. I have been assured however several times that the following will happen. 1. WinDVD will support NT in May.
The upsetting factor in all of this is their website has said it supports all these features and many others since mid-1998. They have only recently changed it to say otherwise. "Coming Soon" wasn't seen until approximately 2 weeks after they started offering it for retail. Anyway, they will and CAN support it, but because they
are so far behind, it gives other companies the chance to beat them to
it. The Live can support 4 discreet channels but the DVD software must
first decode the AC3 signal to 4 channels and specify that to the Sound
Driver. Currently the software decodes the AC3 signal to 2 channels, if
you run CMSS the Sound driver is capable of decoding the generic function
of Dolby Prologic (which seems to somewhat be generated during 2 channel
AC3 decoding), so you get a simulated effect, but no discreet rear channel
(You also tend to hear everything in the front regardless of what it is).
